A lovely colour play made up of two finely woven complementary colour pashmina layers to create a graceful appearance.
'Handloom' - The craft of shaping cloth which is remarkable and acomplished in itself. It is said to have originated centuries ago, with references to woven cotton fabrics found in the ruins of Mohenjodaro, fragments of Indian handlooms discovered in Egypt, and weaving styles found in the Vedas.
'Pashmina' - is made from Cashmere' wool that grows on goats in the Himalayan range. These exceptionally beautiful, charming and soft to touch goats are mainly found in the 'Changthang' region of Ladakh. Living in extremely low temperatures, they naturally grow fine hair as an undercoat, and the wool obtained from this coat is called cashmere, the world's best wool with unique properties. Compared to cashmere wool from other places, Ladakhi cashmere is the softest, finest and warmest cashmere.....
Pashmina is also recognized as the art of crafting luxurious stoles and shawls from Cashmere wool. Making pashmina is a process in and of itself. This entails gathering the Pashmina goat's finer hair, grading the raw cashmere, spinning micro fibers, weaving, and constructing shawls of the utmost quality. Immensely lightweight and hence easy to carry. Pashmina shawls have been crafted on handlooms in Jammu and Kashmir for centuries. The word Pashm' in Kashmir, referred to the raw unspun wool'.
